Switzerland: Brewpubs, breweries, microbreweries, beer?
Greetings, all! I see jw has posted a new trip report that I'm very eager to read!
In the meantime - a question about beer in Switzerland. One of the people I'll be traveling with is a big fan of beer! Does anyone have any recommendations for brewpubs, microbreweries, places where we can get a fun Swiss Beer Experience?
As you may already know from my previous posts, we'll be around Montreux / Neuchatel / Bern / Jungfrau region.
THANKS!

I found this potentially helpful reference to Swiss breweries:

flsd - thank you. I did do a search online before posting but was also hoping to get people's personal experiences. Were you able to get the second of your links to work? When I went there it was not working well. Perhaps my browser.
PalQ - thanks, that's exactly the information I was looking for! We will definitely be in that area.

I love beer; especially german beer. I'd have to say that I've not been as impressed with Swiss beer. The only microbrew I'm familiar with is in Luzern. The Rathaus restaurant brews it's own beer (http://www.rathausbrauerei.ch/). It's not bad. The indoor setting is very cool and there are outdoor seats under the arcade, with a view of the Reuss and Mt. Pilatus.

Heineken has bought up a bunch of breweries but mostly leaves them alone, so they keep brewing their traditional recipes.
The Swiss don't think too much of fancy brewskis and micro-this and that - there are exceptions, but most Swiss don't want their beer to change and be messed with - just let it be the way it always was, blond, not too cold, and refreshing.
So if you want variety at every corner, hop on a train to Belgium.
