Nancy 45; I don't know. Unless there was a huge price difference, I would fly, as early as possible in the morning. I'm sure it's a long journey by train, and there is not all that much to see. We drove something like that (Cherburg to Grindelwald) and while it was pleasant and the children saw the countryside which was all new to them, and therefore added to their experience of a new country we only drove because we were in our own car. It's a 10 hour drive from Paris - I don't know how long on the train. Fly!

Nancy 45; I just looked up www.sbb.ch which is the swiss Rail website. I'm surorised - the train from Paris to Geneva airport only takes about 4 hours! But I'ld still fly.

Thanks, Cod. I think we will fly to Geneva and then rent a car. I have looked into the car rental at the agency you suggested, but apparrently you must rent and return in the same country and we will be dropping off in Germany. The best fare I've found so far is $1800 for nine days from auto europe!! That's alot of money, plus gas! We're stuck however, because there are six of us and we need a minivan (comes with AC and is automatic). They didn't offer any manual minivans for six people and I'm guessing this van doesn't run on diesel either. Any other suggestions on car rental agencies?
We are also thinking of either whitewater rafting or paragliding. I'll let the kids decide when we get there.
Thanks for all your help and advice.
