Switzerland

My family is traveling to Europe in late July. We will be coming from Freiburg,Germany. We are interested in spending a day in Switzerland. After Switzerland, we plan on heading back north to Strasbourg, France. I figure that the northern area of Switzerland would make the most sense. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to visit in Switzerland? We will have a rental car. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

With the limited time you are alotting to Switzerland, I suggest you drive as far as Luzern, and either stay there or one of the villages along the north shore of the Vierwaldstaetter See (aka lake Lucerne). I like Viznau, but there are others.

Sorry I mistyped the name of the town: It's Vitznau.

Stein am Rhein. It's a real gem. We fell in love with it and it's perfect for a day.

Some of our photos if you are interested:

(There are many more photos at the end of the album also.)

Betty K, I saw your pictures of Lungern and they are unbelievable! Would you recommend this for a day?

Sorry, nyctravelgal, but we didn't actually visit Lungern. We only took the photo from above.

nyctravelgal, I just realized that perhaps you were talking about our photos of Stein am Rhein and not Lungern?

If so, I can highly recommend visiting there for a day. It really something you don't see everywhere.
