Traveling to Switzerland in May. Is Interlaken a good place to be based at? Are there many attractive Swiss women?? If do they like?

If you're interested in mountains you'll find Interlaken is not the place to be. It's about 10 miles from the mountains, basically cut off from them by a ring of foothills, save for a small gap.

Many would much prefer to into the interior to Mürren, Wengen or Grindelwald ... but like Swiss women's taste in men, it varies from person to person.

Go to Grindelwald, especially if this is your first time in the Berner Oberland. You will be able to drive in and out whenever you want to, there is enough to do there to keep you entertained, but it's not _too_ big and touristy like Interlaken (you can take a day trip to Interlaken and take a ferry across the lake to the underground river). Have fun.

Pat:
Zürich is a favorite city of ours. All things being equal though a week may be a long time to stay there depending on your interests.

For Switzerland the best part, for us at least, are the mountains (and especially the Berner Oberland and the Jungfrau Region). Luzern is a lovely little city.

The mountain part depends on weather. Between seasons (April and May, October 'til mid December) the weather can be unreliable and iffy, though with many good days of course. So where you ought to go is somewhat a function of when you go.

Much info on Zürich and excursions at www.twenj.com/swisszrhoneday.htm You'll find links there for another 3 or 4 dozen pages on Switzerland as well.

Good afternoon.
David, my suggestion would be in the
Berner Oberland either Grindelwald (most
busy) or Wengen or Murren, both car free
on the side of the mountains overlooking
the Lauterbrunnen Valley, both car free
and much quieter. Also there is Gimmelwald with more basic accomodations
including one of sleeping on hay in a
barn..In teh BO you have Grindelwald
First, Mannlichen, Jungfrau and Schlithorn, lifts and hiking trails, etc.
Pat Zurich is a very nice city, it
main street is the Bahnhofstrasse that
runs from the Bahnhof to Burkliplatz
where in the splring/summer/autumn months, blats ply Lake Zurich to Raperswill and return. By rail you can
go to the Rhinefalls, Schlaufhausen
Einsiedeln and an hour to Luzern.. Zurich has many hotels and a large number of ristorantes from swiss to
very excellant continental. Most of the night life is on the north side of
the River Limatt in the old town area..
If you want a couple of suggestions for
good Zurich ristorantes, drop me a line
and will send you mins. Richard of LaGrange Park, IL
