Swiss Expo 2002

Anyone heading to the Swiss Expo this year? I'll be coming in from Italy. It seems that Bern is closr to the activities. However my conecting flight from Munich in the evening will only land in Geneve or Zurich. Does any one know time travel schedules into Bern from these points?

GRL,

Bern is about 1.33 from the Zurich airport and about 2.30 from the Geneva airport. The Swiss rail website at www.rail.ch has links to the Swiss Expo, including buying tickets.

Have a good time!

s

Thanks for the advice. I just got my Swiss tourism guide in the mail. But it does not tell you how far Bern is from the Expo sites and my Swiss isn't that good.

GRL: You can find out about a lot of useful information like how to get there, prices, events, etc. at the Expo 02 site at:
www.expo.02.ch (just go to the English version)

There are four Arte Plages (art beaches) in total.
They are located in:

Murten, Biel, Neuenburg and Yverdon-les-Bains. The exhibition runs until October 20, 2002.
Yverdon being the farthest away from Berne.
Some 80 min. by train from Berne.

However, you won't be able to do more than just one, maybe two sites a day. They are huge and you will have to wait up to an hour or more for every single attraction inside the Plages. That's what is everybody saying who has visited already.
Personally, I just had a quick tour in Yverdon. I had to walk a lot inside and everywhere small cobblestones. Put on your most comfortable shoes. Bring your own food and drinks. Everybody does. The prices are just outrageously high.
Have fun!

Just returned from a trip to Europe and visit to Expo 02. My family and I went to all the Arte Plages and had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Hotel Palafitte in Neuchatel. The Hotel is located on Lake Neuchatel and is absolutely beautiful! We purchased a three day pass to the Expo and managed to see a lot in those three days. We were there during the week and did not encounter long lines. We appreciated a lot of the spectacular architecutre, culture, food and atmosphere. My favorite Arte Plage and location was Murten. You will find the expo website to be quite helpful. If budget is not an issue I would recommend to stay at Hotel Palafitte. If budget is an issue I would recommend staying in the teepees in Neuchatel. Transportation to and from the Expo is extremely convenient. Good Luck!
