Summer in Montpellier France
My girlfriend and I will be spending 2 months in Montpellier, France this summer! I heard that the city is lively and has a lot going on. I'm looking for suggestions on
-best places to eat
-best bars/nightlife
-fun things to do
-day trips to take out of Montpellier
-any not to miss
Thanks in advance for all your suggestions!

Do you have my 35 page itinerary for Languedoc/Roussillon and my 32 pager for Provence/Cote d'Azur? I've sent them to over 3,000 people on Fodors. If you would like a copy, e-mail me at [email protected] & attach them to the reply e-mail. Specify which itineraries you want - I have others. I updated my Languedoc itinerary this past August (we were there for 4 weeks).

I think if you are there 2 months, you will find the best bars, etc., it's an easy place to walk around, there are some in the center right around the main square (place de la Comedie) and some of the little streets running south of it, and then in another area generally around the church Eglise St Roch. At least those are some I noticed.
It's a great spot for day trips because it's so easy to get on the train there. When I was there some days, I took a day trip to Narvonne and Nimes -- of course you can go to many other places, also, like Arles, Marseille, Avignon, etc., but I'd already been there.
They do have a bus that goes to the beach(es). So I'm sure you can find out a little about that online.
