Hi N,
>ira - I talked to autoeurope yesterday. Currently budget has this special offer - you can pick up car in munich and drop it off anywhere in austria or switzerland without any additional charges.
I am *almost* certain that this is what I want to do.
That's great.
Do it.
You can buy your Austria tax sticker (vignette) at any gas station near the border.
On the way from Munich to Salzburg, you might want to visit Herrenchiemsee (One of Rudolf's castles).

Sorry New2eur...I was out of town and therefore did not have a chance to reply to your questions. It sounds like you have figured out your itinerary which is great
In answer to your last question and determining whether to cut Munich short a day, do you enjoy cities with the energy and excitement or the quiet serene beauty of nature (ie St. Wolfgang)? Another thing to consider is whether you want to move around that much.
Congraulations on your vacation...traveling to Europe is very addicting!

I couldn’t have done my itinerary without you guys! Thank you all!
We have started fine tuning our itinerary and have started looking at hotel reservations. We are now very excited and exhausted…travel planning is stressful

Boy, you are telling me!! I am going through the same issue with our first trip to Italy; leaving May 4th! Please do post a report when you return. I am sure I'm not the only one who wants to know how it all turns out! Bon voyage.
