LAVANDULA, i would like to ask you about bookings.com. Have you ever had any problems with them because i was told by Hotels.com or maybe it was expedia who said that because you dont pay up front with bookings.com, the price of your stay can change on check out because you havent prepaid. Has that ever happened to you or anyone else here?

Hi rushngal, I've never had that experience - everything was as we expected, with only minor changes to do with expenses we incurred while there (such as drinks from the fridge in the hallway). We used them quite extensively on our trip last year: accommodation in Prague, Brno, which we ended up cancelling because our plans changed, accommodation in Weimar, which we also adapted (in the end we had to have 2 hotels because I had work there and we were there for 8 days). We had a few other destinations but used other means of finding them (apartments and Flair Hotels). Had there not been the flexibility in cancelling and rebooking we would have had lots of problems. If you are concerned I would contact them directly because obviously hotels.com are the competition - much better to get it from the horse's mouth.

Hi Rushngal, we will be in Dubai in the second week of October and the Burg Al Arab is the 7 star hotel. We really wanted to go and see the inside and I love to do High Teas, so it was the perfect opportunity.
We are expecting temperatures in the high 30's so hopefully it doesn't hit 40+. Either way we get pretty hot weather in Adelaide in summer so it shouldn't be too bad.

I hope Booking.com is ok, I have used them a lot this trip -Switzerland and Belgium and plan to use them for the sectors Im working on here. I liked the option to book now and pay on arrival and as Lavandula noted, the prices are comparable to other sites and to the hotels direct booking. I also find their web site easy to use.

I have used wotif and Hotels.com in Australia and New Zealand and had no problems but do pay upfront on booking.

The more I look into the Alsace region the more I like it and want to allocate more time. Its just a pity the holiday can't be open ended!
