suggestions on a trip to Europe in February?
I like to visit Europe for the first time, and this February will likely be the only time have to go. I'd like to visit a southern are due to weather, and have thought about Southern Italy, Rome, Sicily, and then maybe over to Athens
Can any one help with recomendation on these locations during February? I have about 10 days

Hi Re,
Cities are better than the countryside in Winter.
With only 10 days, I suggest that you visit Rome and another city in Italy.
You could stretch it to
Fly into Venice, 3 days, train to Florence 3 days, train to Rome. Fly home.

Thanks much for the recommendations.
Venice is not of much interest, but Florence and Rome are. I could fly into Florence then to Rome and would like to go further south.....any recommendations on going south? I could strech a couple more days onto the trip

We spent 5 nights in the Bavaria region of Germany in mid-February last year. While we enjoyed ourselves a great deal, it was quite cold and we had snow on several days. We were in small villages and many of the main museums and sights had restricted hours. In retrospect, we wish we had spent the time in Munich since it is a large enough city that the museums stay open for more than 3 to 4 hours a day in the winter. We only spent about $1000 on the trip though, so no regrets about going!

Thanks on the Naples recommend...
Texas Aggie, the Feb weather in northern europe is what I'm trying to avoid...hence I'm open to any suggestions to fill in 3-5 days after visiting Florence and Rome.
Thanks much

Hmmm... we are currently considering a late November trip to Sicily. The weather is decent (not warm, but 60s+) at that time of year. February might be a bit colder but should still be fairly nice. Air One flies from Rome FCO to Catania.

You certainly will be avoiding the hoards of tourist one finds May through
Sept. and it will be lovely in the south....or Southern Italy. Sorrento is a wonderful location for seeing that area....Capri, Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, etc. Sicily is getting to be a popular and great travel site and the weather would be good.I understand it is VERY PRETTY and interesting,
We were in Sorrento end of Feb a couple of years ago and the weather was spectaclar. Did have a cold rain for a couple of days, but the flowers were in bloom, the multitude of lemon trees were full of fruit, the food was good, the people nice etc.

Refurbit, you mentioned flying into the Florence airport this February. Check this out as the Florence airport is suppose to close down due to maintenance. Evidently planes will be landing at the Pisa airport instead.
