Suggestions for Paris in August?

My fiance and I are going to Paris in two weeks. It's his second time and my third, so we've already done the major tourist haunts. The only reason we're going in August is because the trip is free. Knowing that many establishments close for the month, we were wondering if anyone could suggest some activitities and restaurants that are open Aug. 13 to 17. Thanks much!

I doubt you'll even notice the difference between August and any other time. It's not true anymore that everything shuts down. You won't need to make any special arrangements unless you had your heart set on dining at some establishment that does happen to close down. Your "activities" won't be curtailed.

Paris Plages runs from July 20 to August 20 this year, jessvs. So it is still on from August 13 to August 17.

My own personal tip about this: Take a look at the Seine version, but spend your time at the Bassin de la Villette version.

Thanks, that's a big relief! LMK if anyone has any other ideas for fun summer activities. Also, last time I went in March everyone was wearing dark colors ... I assume that tendency eases up for the summer?
