suze, my husband is what I call a ‘soap snob’ so yes each trip involves going to Bon Marche to pick up his allotment of Marius Fabre Figue soap. This is the only scent he likes and has been stuck on it for the last 14+ years. I used to have a small boutique-y type shop and we sold many French milled soaps, Marius Fabre among them. No longer imported to the US - Paris is always a good idea and soaps head our list. We used to love the loose bars of olive oil soap from A l’Olivier on rue de Rivoli but they no longer carry the original ones. We’ve pretty much tried lots of French milled soaps but MF is our go to brand.

Just a quick note to wunderbar2: if you’re ever in Bern, Switzerland, the Loeb department store across from the train station carries the whole MF line, inc Figue. Found on the 5th floor in the towels and bath accessories section.

MF is indeed wonderful soap, but I don't see it often around here. Our favorite soap is donkey milk, usually available from local suppliers, but some of the main brands produce it too, like this:

WeisserTee, thanks, I’ve only been to Bern once but would not have thought to look for MF soaps, I guess I need to broaden my horizons!
StCirc, I think I’ll try a bar or two next time I order from amazon. Thanks.
