Suggestions for Germany and France via Car?

Suggestions for Germany and France via Car?
My family (18 year old son and 13 year old daughter) and I will be traveling to Germany for two weeks in July. We are arriving in/departing from Frankfurt and will be renting a car. We will be visiting Berlin, Munich, and Paris, we well as the WWII sites in Normandy. I'd appreciate any family-friendly hotels with good locations in these cities, or any that might be found "along the way."
Any other useful information would be greatly appreciated!

For hotel recos you need to provide a couple of pieces of information:
How many of you are there? 3? 4?
Are you planning on one room or two?
What is your budget (a specific amount please - moderate may be $100 for one person and $300 to another)

Since you will have a car, check out http://www.gites-de-france.com/locat...bre-hotes.html for rooms that are outside towns or http://www.france-voyage.com/en/. I have not any complaints about stays in B&Bs listed on either site.

Thank you for the information provided thus far.
Some of the specific information requested:
- 3 total in our party, and I'm planning on one room.
- My budget is $100-$150 a night if possible, and understand that this amount may vary based on the location, hotel quality, etc. I would rather stay in a nicer, safe hotel in a good location and pay a little more.

Except for Normandy, you seem to be concentrating on cities. In Europe, you're better off taking the train between cities. You travel from city center to city center (always the best place for a first time visit). With a car you have to find your way around choked narrow streets, one-way streets, often car-free centers. And you'll have to pay a lot to park the car while you're in a city.
Or you stay on the outskirts, don't see as much of the city, and have to take long bus/subway rides to get into and out of the city center.
I'm not familiar with the train passes in Germany that might make train travel cheaper, especially with children. But others here could help you with that.
