Suggestions for flights to Croatia from New York area

I am taking a walking tour in Croatia in October and need to book my own airfare. I have checked many sources and am struggling with finding a convienent flight. I will be flying from the New York area, but am flexible about which airport, ie, Newark or JFK. I welcome any suggestions anyone has. I am supposed to fly to Dubrovnik and out of Split. I am now sure how far Split is from Zagreb airport, if that is a better place to get a return flight.

By the way, have you checked kayak.com?

Split and Zagreb are about 4 hours apart. Split and Dubrovnik are about 4 hours apart.

A quick check at kayak.com for fake dates Oct 7 and Oct 18 shows reasonable travel conncetions on Lufthansa going to Dubrovnik via Munich or Vienna. All the returns from Split have long layovers in Frankfurt. Costs right around $1100.

Kayak showed no nonstop flights.

The usual routes from NY to Dubrovnik are through Dublin (Aer Lingus), London (British Airways), or Frankfurt (Lufthansa). The Frankfurt route is usually best as it does not require an overnight stay there on the return trip, but the Dublin route is usually cheaper.

Hi morninglory8,

I'm wondering if you ever found a convenient flight to Dubrovnik from the NYC area? I'm also looking for a flight and can't find anything convenient or not crazy expensive on the days of Sept 3-19.

Thanks!
