Suggest a Galway City restaurant?

I'm going to Ireland soon and will stay the first two nights in Galway City. Can anyone recommend a good place to eat dinner our first night in Galway City? We will, undoubtedly, be a little tired from the trip over, but I want to make sure our first night is a success. Thanks!

If you can face a short drive (c. 10 minutes) - try Donnelly's in Barna (an excellent pub / seafood restaurant).

Thank you for the suggestion. One of my biggest concerns is driving at night - especially on the first night. I am hoping to find a restaurant that I can walk to from Jury's Inn in Galway City. Thank you very much for your quick response.

Two restaurants (one on roof) at the Great Southern Hotel on Eyre Square in central Galway City. If the Irish Mushroom soup is on the menu, it's fantastic!

Hi Nancy, Two suggestions for you. The Malt House in High Street specialty is seafood and Conlon Seafood in Eglinton Street offers seafood as well as famous chowder. The Oyster Room in the Great Southern Hotel is elegant and somewhat expensive and might be best enjoyed on your second night so you will be more rested.

Just across the street from Jury's is a great restaurant called Hooker Jimmies. We have eaten there on 4 different trips and the food is fabulous. Sea food...or traditional steaks, etc. We will eat there again any chance we have. Enjoy!
