Stresa to Lugano day trip by train and boat

I have read much about the Centovalli train and boat combination from Lugano to Stresa via Domodossola. But I haven't heard about this day trip in reverse, beginning in Stresa, nor could I find it on the website for the day trip beginning in Switzerland. Anybody done this from Stresa or have any ideas? It's for end of June. WE'll have a car, but the train/boat sounded like fun. Thanks.

I think you mean Locarno rather than Lugano.

I see no reason why you couldn't do it from Stresa. In fact you could do it in either direction: train from Stresa-Domodossola-Locarno then boat from Locarno-Stresa or else boat from Stresa-Locarno then train from Locarno-Domodossola-Stresa.

Alison - You can find the Stresa-Locarno timetable on:

http://www.navlaghi.it/italia/navima...cemaggiore.htm

THE Locaro-Domodossola Centovalli timetable is on:

http://www.centovalli.ch/orariDL_e.htm

For trains back from Domodossola to Stresa go to:

www.trenitalia.com

Hope this helps ...

thanks so much. There seem to be packaged day trips from Switzerland, rather than putting it together piecemeal. I was hoping someone knew if a packaged day trip existed out of Stresa that includes all the components.

Alison - Why would you need a packaged trip?

All you have to do is catch a boat, then a train, then another train (- from the same station)

Hey - you really can't go wrong, trust me
