Strange response from Scavi Office

Today, I requested tickets for the Scavi Tour, and received a strange automated response, as follows:

"Due to the cerimonies for the occasion of the funeral for the Holy Father, all of the visits to the Excavations of St. Peter's are suspended during April 4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11, 2005.

Beginning on April 12th, the Excavations Office will again be open and visits will take place, as previously scheduled. Please, call the morning to have last news

Payments already made for tickets for canceled tours will be refunded either at the Scavi Office itself or will be refunded by check. In the latter case, it is necessary to communicate to the Office your reservation number, name and surname, and complete mailing address by either e-mail or fax

Any advise as to why I got this response and what I should do next?

Thanks,
Terry

It looks like you got an email response from a mailbox that doesn't have its old automated response message turned off (the one from when John Paul II died, causing cancellation of the Scavi tours for those days mentioned). The message is almost 1.5 years old.

What date did you request this for?

I made the request for September 18 or 19, 2006. I know it is awfully late to make such a request, but did so on the off chance that something might be available. I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this almost 1.5 year old response.

Hmm, we didn't get this response when we requested tickets this past spring.

I'd email the office again, tell them about the response you received, and ask if a tour is available for the dates you want. Good luck!

What email address did you use to request tickets to the Scavi tour? I have tried the email address on the Santa Susanna website & my email was returned as undeliverable.

Thanks for your help.

I sent them an email in early June
requesting a tour in October. I got
the standard automated message (that
I'd hear from them if I got a tour); perhaps this is just a temporary computer glitch on their end
at this time.

Sent another request (to Scavi Office) today, explaining the outdated response I received previously, but this request also receiving the same outdated response, today. Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks, everyone, for trying to help. I will keep trying.

Thanks for the email addreses. Those were the same 2 that I had tried that were returned as undeliverable. I sent another email to [email protected] again on 8/14/06 & have not heard anything yet. How long was it before you received a reply?

Thanks for your help!

Just wanted to post a quick update that I did receive an automated response today to my request sent to the email address listed above. It seems that the automated response has been updated & is current.

Thanks, grantsnana. I have finally received the corrected and up to date automated response from the Scavi Office. No explanation was given for the earlier, outdated automated response.

Now I am waiting to hear if tickets are available for my days. I hope you get the tickets you requested!
