Wierd!

I used to walk through the Kingsgate everyday on the way to work. Lived just up the hill from the Black Boy.

You don't know Jerry and Skinny Rothman do you? Used to live in that huge house on the corner of Cannon St. and St Thomas St. Ran Rothman's antiques on Jewry St. They went to Westdowns but hung out with Wykehamists.

Who was that ropey college band who played at the 900th college anniversery? Used to know them too, but their names escape me. John Case?

No I don't know the chaps and I can't remember the band. Mind you I was in quite a few truly pony bands myself.

I can't remember knowing anyone from West Downs. Most of my non-college mates either went to Symond's or Monty's or St Mary's (I'm a catholic so we used to get bussed out there for indoctrination)and a few from Perrins.

And the girls went to Swithun's, Atherley, St Annes and the Gregg. Although Danemark was a target rich environment.

Erm, probably a good idea.

I can't imagine that this is very interesting to anyone else.

I did know Pete Le Grys (and his younger brother Ben, I'm inbetween in age) I was in the aforementioned pony bands with Pete and his mates.

The ONly Hewitt I know is JAmes Hewitt (The Princess Diana one). Actually I know his brother rather than him.

Ok David

One last time for Elizabeth from NYC

Do you recall one Liz Hurley? Was at drama school in Southampton (? her mum is mates with my ex's mum) originally from the Basingstoke area and went out with my mate Simon for about six months.

Gibbo, Pete Le Grys (aka Lou), Kate Rossi and the whole gang knew her very well but unfortunately I was working in the Middle East at the time and only met her the once.

Come on boy, drop another name!

Cheers

Jimmy

Thank you and I hope you'll keep it up!!

This board would be a great place for a "six degrees of separation" game.

I never met La Hurley. My mate did date Tinita Tikaram (another Basingstoke girl). The best I managed was a girl who appreared in Men Only.

Gibbo, like Bod, Simon King, Alan Jones and Johnny Brain DAmage were rather fixtures on the scene.

Just how old was gibbo? He must have been about 30 when I was 18.

I knew Crate Rossi (A large girl). My eyesight impaired friend went out with her. She must have done tricks.

Pete's band TS135 (Do you know why it was called that? I can still remember) used to support us in our rubbish gigs (I was the guitarist for Agent Orange).

The X Men anyone?

All I remember is TS135 was supposed to be something significant and Pete, being dyslexic, got it wrong and named the band after a roll of film.

I was in a "country and western band" (the Linoleum Sisters) with Ben and Simon Airey. Ben, as dyslexic as his brother, sang a beautiful rendition of D.O.C.I.V.R.E

I went out with Kate's friend Christine Moury for about six months. She later found fame by appearing naked in a bath with another lady in the Sunday Sport. Only other claim to fame is getting blind p*ssed with Anthony Andrews (Brideshead revisited) In the Royal Oak.

Who was your friend who went out with Kate? Got an email from her a while back.

Haven't seen Gibbo since 3 Christmases ago in the Green Man, still fat and objectionable. He would be about 46 now

Saw LJ (Little Jones, Alan's cousin) at Brighton train station on Tuesday.

I always regarded Simon King as more of a house than a person.

Bod: clean living boy now, Johnny Brain Damage probably dead, Danny Conroy is dead (idiot!)

You should go to the Embassy in Islington. It's run by Giles and Gav Standing and a bit of a Winchester club.

I knew Simon airey pretty well. Now, he was a good pianist.

The mate who went out with Kate was Simon Cane. They were an item for quite a while. (About 1983)

Has gibbo got a job yet? Or is he still the only unemployable man in Winchester?

Can't say I'm suprised about Danny Conroy (who was my ex's ex). He was always a self destructive fool.

Did you know Martin Burton? (Not Zippo, the DSS one?) He managed to give himself brain damage from drink.

Quite a few of the people I knew in Winchester managed to catch AIDS and I assume that they are now dead. Silly crusties the lot of 'em.

Check your hotmail

Gotcha! Still can't put a face to you but I know who you are!

Used to hang round with Caney when he was going out with Kate. You'd be mates with Dave Chidgey as well. You'd also know the original Spoon, tall thin girl with very big hair, looked like a spoon.

Simon Airey has disappeared off the face of the planet, so if anyone sees a piano playing Johnny Depp on a very bad hair day lookee likey in an ill fitting suit tell him to get in touch. His sister Janey was the drummer in the Linoleum sisters, along with Caroline Hubble.

Gibbo was a care worker in Cardiff for years, but got the sack for walloping a teenager who attacked him with a knife. Been doing bits and pieces since.

Who was your ex? Diabetic Danny always had an unfortunate affinity for needles.

Martin Bishop (Bish) yes, not a Martin Burton though unless that was Scouse's real name. Zippo's circus in Brighton this week by way.

Definitely do this by email from hereonin.

Go see it. It is well worth it. I have been there twice and enjoyed it both times. As several other have suggested, there are one day tours from London that include Stonehenge. We signed up at our hotel for one such tour that included Salsbury (excellent), Bath (the Roman ruins are outstanding) and Stonehenge. I felt we had plenty of time in both Stonehenge and Salsbury. However, someday I am going to try and return to Bath.
