Anyone have a suggestions for a hotel on the beach off the coast of Spain?

Paradores have some wonderful beach hotels. My choice would be the Javea parador. Their site is www.parador.es.

I mean a beach resort ON the coast of Spain. Want to relax for a few before hitting the sights

As you said in another message, your trip is the second half of September...so you'd better go anywhere down from Valencia, you can have summer storms and rain further north.
I like this hotel, I've never been but the place is beautiful and quiet..without being boring for some days relax :
