Personal experience says you cant beat this great eat:

Icco Pizza, London
46 Goodge Street
London
W1T 4LU
"This staple of the Noho lunch crowd laughs in a moustachioed Italian way at the soggy Dolmio and cheddar on a stale base that are the usual British violations of the art of lunchtime pizza. Here you'll find massive shareable pizzas averaging a mere £3.50, served in a whizzing, chrome clad New Yawk-esque environment. The only problem you'll face is the difficulty in achieving anything in the afternoon after gorging yourself on ICCo's finest."

Last visited London in 2000; though historically interesting and beautiful inside, Rules was not our best meal but it was surely the priciest. Loved North Sea Fish in Bloomsbury, and Wodka in Kensington, a chic bistro with delicious Polish food and the best vodka ever, many flavored, and made in-house. Food at the British Museum was very good at a pretty cafe upstairs as well.

We've been thropugh the Rules thing several times before. It's a marmite restaurant.

What is also worth remembering is the further away from the tourist trap areas the bettter and cheaper it gets. For instance here in Hammersmith thyere are lots of very good restaurants offering lunches for around £7 with a drink. But this isn't a tourist area. Having said that - it's also ten minutes from South Kensington - the ultimate tourist area.

My favourite London restaurant is Daphne's, in Chelsea. Really, really good.
