"Stephano" is all booked up, know of any other driver?

I read many reviews about Stephano of Rome Cabs and how great he was at picking you up at the airport. Well, he's all booked up unfortunately. Know of any other good drivers??

Schnookies, use the Search Box here and you will find tons of info regarding transporation from the airport into Rome.

Or just take a taxi which as long as it is an authorized taxi will work well also.

I'm continually amazed why people need drivers, guides, etc. for visits to foreign countries. If those people are not schooled enough to go places on their own, maybe they should stay at home and rent some travelogues. This way they can go foreign in the comfort of their living rooms.

You should be able to get a ride into the city or your destination from any of the authorized taxi drivers at the airport. There should be a clearly marked waiting area, where you can line up and be taken in turn.

Well, Waldo, some people don't want to take the train into the city from the airport and also don't want to pay the high cost of a taxi. A shuttle that you reserve ahead of time is generally cheaper than a taxi. I used www.airportshuttle.it. As LoveItaly mentioned, do a search, there are many others recommended here.

Schnookies - have your hotel arrange a shuttle for you. I stayed at Hotel Julia last year and they arranged the shuttle - at a big discount (I paid 12 euros). I just had to show up at the shuttle desk and was the 2nd of 3 stops the driver made. I paid at the hotel for the ride.

Waldo is just special. Since he knows everything about everyplace, he's very comfortable. I'll bet he's never been lost, asked directions, or inquired about anything. He was probably born with an IQ of 180.

Hey 2Italy--
I don't know everything, I've gotten lost (especially in Venice), and I have asked directions many times! You are exactly illustrating my point. GO OUT ON YOUR OWN AND LEARN BY YOURSELF. Why hire a guide or driver. It's too antiseptic. Anyone can do that. Where's the fun and adventure? I'm also sorry that my IQ does not approach 180, (at least, that's what I think.)

Ah, too bad, Waldo. You found your way back.

Well, perhaps you want to waste your time getting lost and whatnot, but the majority of visitors-especially firsttime visitors-can't afford and don't want to waste time doing that.

As to why you come here to post criticisms about others I've got no idea. Everyone's got to do what they feel is right for himself/herself. You should keep those self-righteous thoughts to yourself.

I think taking a few hour tour to familiarize oneself with a new city is very wise.

Then wander around areas you saw that interests you.

Hi waldo, I apologise for the rudeness of the poster who suggested you had an IQ anywhere near 180. The 1 was a typo. Please accept my apologies and please do go to legoworld - no need for a guide for a bright boy like you.

Try decaf Waldo! They're just trying to get a comfortable ride from the airport to the hotel. Let them get there, then they can start learning more about the city and the ways around it. Take your blue pill.

Well, I for one am going to take Waldo's advice and go about on my own. Next time I land at Fiumicino after about 12 hours in the air, I'm going to take my luggage in hand and WALK into the city. I mean, why even take the train like those other wimps? I'm sure it will be a very educational trip.
