I was planning a trip to Scotland, but after hearing Tony's surly rants on one thread after another, I am switching to Ireland.

Weak minds, no matter where they live or what their origins are, are what I dislike. THINK, people, THINK. It's good for you, keeps away Alzheimers. Though how people who buy into these silly things make it to old age is another question.

Listen to Sheila instead. You'll switch back to Scotland. Maybe he's the exception.

you really all are a bunch of whining maggots, arent you? constantly bleating about how someone is a racist or anything else you can think of. Keep it up - it's amusing.

Sheila has her own problems with racism. She doesn't think much of the U.S., either. What's with the Scots here lately, anyway?

No, Sheila is most certainly not a racist, and she has made many friends from the USA who have a lot of respect and affection for her. She is direct, truthful, and sometimes outspoken about criticizing policies, attitudes and cultural practices that she dislikes anywhere, including in the US and the UK (and even in Scotland).

Hey! How did I end up in here?

Jason, on what basis do you say I don't think much of the US? When did I ever say that? Or anything like that?

And, why am I a racist? I've been a member of anti-racist organisations here, all my adult life.

I would also point out that this thread started, effectively being support of the US against conspiratorial rantings. Even if I wouldn't have written off the entire French nation on the back of it.

(They do play dirty rugby tho')

It's not Tony's original point I disagree with, but his habit of turning ugly very fast when anyone disagrees with him.
I appreciate someone who remains civil and rational, no matter how heated the disagreement, like Capo or Bob or even Rex. John G. for instance, may get a bit snippy, but at least he's witty, and doesn't morph into the Hulk like Tony.

Why did Tony title his post "Here's one for you Francophiles"?
Are we all supposed to join him in hating the French after reading about this book? That's absurd!
Consider some of the asinine best-sellers and widely popular TV shows in the U.S. (Jerry Springer, etc.)! I'd hate to be judged by foreigners on those!

I dont usually add to a trash thread like this, as it is not funny, but I did want to add especially to Jason, that Sheila is one of the first persons I met at Fodors, and many who know her, know that she embraces people of all races, countries into her home. She made a statement once, that someone completely distorted. So to quote someone, "real friends are those when you have made a fool of yourself, don't feel you,ve done a permenant job."
I hpoe not

Well,dear,Tony-
I personally do not think much of any of this. There are always Conspiracy Theories by crackpots who have a vague idea of how to write and market some drivel, because it is published, does NOT make it so.There being enough people who actually witnessed the plane crashes, that lost loved ones in those plane crashes,I tend to believe the truth.
But, I would not blame the French. They are just the latest in a history of this sort of thing, even on these boards, someone will post a ridiculous opinion and you will find that thread going on for days and days with all the posters who agree .
Better, just try not to post the damn url so you can better spread the thing all over the internet, just in case someone might not have read it.
Things like this come along all the time, the less attention they get, the quicker they die.
Tony, you should know better.Or is this just to stir things up on a boring day, because you should know by now that no one is going to agree with you!

Re" calling anyone on here RACIST.
I personally don't know anyone on these boards, so while I might say that this one writes in an ignorant fashion,or this one is witty and interesting, I cannot say if anyone has certain beliefs..
So unless you really do know Sheila or anyone else on these forums, I would keep the insults general.
For all we know, someone out there is sitting in a white hood at the computer!

SORRY-hit the wrong key!!!!!!

As I was saying, for all we know someone is sitting out there in a white hood at their computer and writing all kinds of loving and kind things..just because you do not agree with someone or don't like what they post, gives you NO right to call them Racist..It is actually a Racist thing to do that!

KSO, I don't believe Tony is a racist.
He is a bigot.
At least, according to his statements (which may or may not be related to his actual beliefs, according to you).

But I can't call Tony a racist OR a bigot, because you say that would make ME a racist (or a bigot). So I won't call him that.

It's true that NO ONE likes to be called a racist, not even KKK members. They will insist they are not racists.

So I agree, the word is too inflammatory to use on this board without starting a riot. Let's NEVER say racist again.

If I were French, Tony would spit in my eye, but I love him too. Group hug!

Anyone who makes a statement about disliking everyone in a group because of the actions of one or even of 10,000 of its members, clearly not having met every member of that group, is some kind of a ---ist, or at the very least, just a pot-stirring troll.

I'm amazed at how angry some people get over the French (or is it me people get angry over?).

Sheila, I'm sorry, mate, you shouldn't have been dragged down into the gutter alongside me, you're a decent person and all round good egg.

I dont hate French people, more the thought of French people. They probably wouldn't like me much , either (so much for that Auld Alliance, Sheila, huh?).

I love you all, hehe . . .

My stepmother, who is a high-level executive with Lockhead, was in the Pentagon on Sept. 11 for a meeting. Believe me, a plane crashed into the building. She is still seeing a therapist because of the trauma this disaster has caused to her psyche. Also, where is the famed TV commentator, the woman who was always on Larry King Live, who was married to the Solicitor General of the US? (I can't think of her name right now.) She was on the flight that crashed into the Pentagon. I suppose she is hiding in Mexico with Elvis???????

Hey, I KNOW I'm a decent person by comparison with you, Tony!!

Fear not; I can handle it

Now, have you thought about seeing a therapist about this irrational dislike of the people who invented cooking?
