Cali, I looked up this hotel and it's close to $300 per night! I can't understand why one would stay in a hotel this expensive in Poland unless it was beyond amazing, as there are so many great hotels that match this one's reviews and amenities. Since I've never been to Poland, I feel like I'm missing something here. Not trying to criticize one's choices... just making sure I'm not missing something and don't make a big mistake by staying in a $50 hotel that looks REALLY NICE and has great reviews. Thanks!

We did not pay that much for the room, but there were 10 members of our family staying there so maybe we got a better deal. It was a very nice hotel and we loved it and enjoyed our stay and the location so thought I would recommend it. I know everyone has a different price point but it suited us. We took this trip 2 years ago.

Be a little careful about "fabulous hotels" in Poland and setting a price. The two do not always come together, the critical thing you want to do is look at the pictures and comments on TripAdvisor. Big/expensive can just mean big profits and poor service.

Rather than hiring guides, I recommend the Rough Guide.

shandean, I do not know what dates you were looking at but I looked up the Stary Hotel for various dates, including the time of year we were there (early Sept.) and only the very large suites were close to $300 or over. The regular rooms are in the $170 range and they were the type of room we had. Their regular rooms are large and again, I know people have different price points, but to us this was well worth the money.
