Starting Rhine Cruise @Rudesheim

I'll be in Frankfurt on business. I'd like to take the Rhine cruise by taking a train from Frankfurt to Rudesheim.

Question is, which train station should I select. The choices are many and I don't know whether "Rheingaubad, Rüdesheim am Rhein" is the correct one.

Also, after getting off the train, how do I find the cruise ships?

Also, can anyone suggest a hotel to stay at Boppard? I plan to get off the cruise there and take train to Cologne.

Thanks a lot.

On the bahn.de site, select Rudesheim(Rhein). The others are bus stops.

You can inquire in the station about how to get to the ships.

The docks, as I recall, are right near the Rudesheim station; the town itself is a short walk south of the station.

We went to the Rhine area last October. I originally had tried to book a hotel in Boppard but could not find availability because it was a wine festival weekend there. These are three hotels I was looking at but could not get in:
( Also, order brochures from this website, very helpful:

Thanks. All of your advices are very helpful.

Do you know about how much the cost is for the train ride from Frankfurt to Rudesheim? The website (www.bahn.de) is not showing the prices.

The reason that www.bahn.de is not showing prices is that Frankfurt and Rüdesheim are both within the boundaries of the local transit authority (Verkehrsverein). In such cases the zone fares of the Verkehrsverein supercede the point-to-point fares of the railroad.

These fares can be found on the Verkehrsverein web site at http://www.vgf-ffm.de.

Frankfurt to Rüdesheim requires a Zone 6 fare which is 8.60 Euro.

The advantage of this system is that you could take a U-Bahn or tram from your hotel to the train station and travel on the same 8.60 Euro ticket--just get a Zone 6 ticket rather than an ordinary local ticket when boarding the U.Bahn or tram.
