St. Tropez -- restaurant and daytrip recommendations?

Heading to St. Tropez in early Sept. We would love recommendations on any moderately priced restaurants. We would also splurge for an expensive meal, if you have a strong recommendation. Also, any suggestions for daytrips in the area? Is it worth taking the ferry to some of the nearby towns?

A day trip to Saint Paul de Vence was a memorable experience last May. We stopped in Grasse en route and has lunch at the relais & chateaux "Saint Paul" in their terrace restairamt in the walled medieval town. Also recommended in the "Le Colombe d'Or" (sp?)also in Saint Paul de Vence, although more expensive. We enjoyed lunch at the Byblos Hotel in St. Tropez.

Thanks, Isabella! We're actually going to stay at the Byblos. Do you recall approximately how far away St. Paul de Vence is from St. Tropez? What about Grasse?

Saint Paul de Vence was approximately 20-30 minutes from Cannes where we were staying, so I'd add another 20+- minutes from St. Tropez depending on traffic. We are returning to the Cote d'Azur this year in May and can report on any new finds. You will love the Byblos Hotel, the best and totally booked on the dates we will be there. Grasse we found to be a charming town with several perfume factories/stores which some may dismiss as being too commercial, however, we stopped at the Froganard Perfume Museum and had a tour of the history of perfumes, etc. and ended up buying some lavender poupourri & french milled soaps. The lavender fields, scenic vistas, and one charming village after another all combine for a relaxing & interesting day trip. In May we plan to visit again Arles & Avignon and plan to visit Chateau La Nerfe which producing Chateauneauf du Pape wine from the Rhone region. We plan to have lunch at LePrieure. Good luck with your plans.

I'll second what Isabella said about St Paul-de-Vence, because we did exactly the same thing last year. Also just west of San Tropez is a little hill town called Gassin that is worth seeing. We noted a charming little restaurant there that we may try for lunch someday. Another thing you could do is take a ferry ride out of Hyeres to the Porquerolles.

CJ<BR>Check out Bormes les Mimosas. It is a beautiful little village. Very quaint. And, they had one of the nicest markets. It's not too far from St. Tropez.
