My wife and I are planning 9 nights and looking for some advice and feedback. We land inDublin and returning out of Shannon. Our plan is to use train and thinking a Kilkenny (family roots) to Cork to Dingle areas over that time. Looking for a combination of country B&B in smaller towns and a few nights in larger towns.
We know we can't see and do all so we are trying to keep it simple and relaxed. Are we thinking correctly as to a general route/itinerary?
Any suggestions for stops along that general route much appreciated.

I'm dashing out but just one quick comment -- there is no train station in or near Dingle. Shortest drive is probably Tralee about an hour away.

You may want to take the train from Cork to Killarney and hire a driver to take you to Dingle, a town we loved.

While I'm not a big fan of bus tours, I did take one from Killarney to Dingle because I didn't want to get a car (did the rest of the trip by train). It turned out to be a good way to get there, with a few nice stops along the way, including going right out to the tip which is the western-most point.
