ST. PAUL'S CHRISTMAS EVE 4 pm SERVICE
How crowded is the 4 p.m. service at St. Paul's on Christmas Eve? I thought I would avoid the midnight mass rush and go to the earlier one. I plan on going to the midnight mass at the church near the Connaught, the Immaculate Conception, assuming they have one.

I would think that both times would be crowded. Just get there early! Also, Brompton Oratory, not to far from Harrods, has some of the best music in London, in a Catholic church, along with an orchestra. Look at the web site for Mass times and at the bottom for music.

http://www.brompton-oratory.org.uk/index.html

While we're on the subject, what about midnight mass at Westminster Abbey? That's what we're planning on attending. The schedule shows that the service begins at 11:30 - when would people suggest we arrive to be able to sit (their website indicates that they remove many of the chairs to allow greater standing-room-only attendance). In the US, we'd typically arrive about 10:45, and carols would start about that time - would appreciate any advice.
