Been there for 3 nights around Xmas. Never again! Old fashioned hotel with very small rooms, not very clean and much too expensive.
For objective information take a look at ww.theaa.co.uk/Region9/Allhotel.html where you will find objective quoting for all hotels in London.

Pamela,
Disregard my former posting re St Giles. I have mixed up two hotels where we have been around Xmas: St Giles and Russell Hotel. The comments on my former posting were regarding the Russell Hotel.
St Giles is OK, rooms are also very small but it's clean and modern comfort.
Sorry that I gave you a wrong advice.
Pamela,

The St Giles I stayed at on Bedford is not near Covent Garden, but about a 20 minute walk away.

Stayed there 2 years ago as part of a British airways deal. Very large hotel...my single room was quite small, but clean. Found location bit noisy, had a room on lower floor, no AC. Service was friendly. Pub on main floor. Location is quite good, located on Tottenham Crt near Oxford. Walking distance to shopping, British Museum, Soho..Tube nearby.

Enjoy!

Thank you for your replies. I will be sure to ask for a higher level room! I was surprised to hear the comments about the Russell Hotel, as it's a 4 crown hotel. I'm glad I decided against paying extra to stay there. Thanks for the location info. also. My map showed several "Bedford's" so I wasn't sure.
Happy Travels!
