St George Hotel, Prague

Has anyone stayed here, or know anything about it? We're going for a few days in Januray, and as it's fairly new, there's not much info. Looks lovely from the brochure, but just wondered if anyone had any 'insider' info.

Thanks!

Do you mean King George (It also has another name, I forgot)? If it's the same, it's above an Irish tavern near Charles Bridge. The location is great, the price was cheap (3 years ago). The only thing is our room was over the bar and we had a front room. Couldn't sleep with the door opening and banging closed all night. The room was fine. My husband also scorched himself in the tight shower. I have nothing to compare it against, but for the money it was fine. Just ask for a back room.

Denise

Thanks Denise, but I just checked - it is the ST George... It only opened in August 2000, so it's not really on any of the sites when I do a 'google' search. Good to hear about the King George, though, for future reference!

If you have a brochure, that probably wouldn't give you anything more than what's online as they usually get that stuff from the hotel -- but it is on several web sites that I've seen, which were found doing a Google search, here are a few:
http://prague-hotel.wz.cz/hotel-st-george/
http://hotel.aap.cz/hotel/Hotel.asp?ID=174&Mena=USD
http://www.ds-bohemia.cz/Prague/Hotel.asp?ID=174&Mena=USD
.
It isn't far out but not really in the most central location, it's in Prague 2 quarter (Old Town is Prague 1). I would prefer to be more central myself as a tourist, but some people don't care about that kind of stuff as much as I do. Sorry, I don't know anyone who's stayed there.

Jenny, I just got back from Prague and stayed at the Cloister Inn. I would highly recommend it. It was very clean and quiet. I truly pleasantly surprised for the price of around $80.

Thanks guys for these .....

Christina: Thanks for letting me know those websites - your search skills must be better than mine! The hotel was part of a VERY reasonable deal, so we just took it .... I hope that it's not too far, because we usually do like to be a bit more central. BUT it was an offer we couldn't refuse!

Mike: Thanks for your recommendation - The Cloister Inn was another hotel we looked at, but, as above, this one was SUCh a good deal.....

Thanks again - I'll post a report when I get back.
Jenny
