"Spring" Restaurant News

I just spoke with Daniel Rose.

Spring will not open before June, and possibly even later than that!!

Many of us who will be travelling in the "Spring" will miss the new opening!.

a bientot...

Good meals will be available elsewhere. Probably cheaper.

Daniel is a real bargain, as his prices are most reasonable.

Those who have dined with him have certainly enjoyed what he has to offer.

A very gifted young man.

Joan,
Thanks for the update. Looks like won't be dining here when we're in Paris late May/early June. As kerouac states, there are lots of other choices which I'm sure we'll enjoy, though I was looking forward to discovering Spring. Another time, perhaps. EJ

elsiejune,

Yes, we will miss the opening, but will catch up with Daniel next trip.

We will not go hungry, that is for sure! I started out with about 90 places and now and down to something more reasonable in number. Still more than I will have time for in my month stay.

My list has many that I have not been to before, but still have my resgulars..the 4 Constants, l'Obelisque, etc.

April is not that far away....

a bientot...

Hello gracejoan - are you in Paris now? Assume you are in the 7th, as usual?

I'll be there at the end of March with my sister (her first visit!) and wondered what is new in the area, esp. restaurants. I have Gaya and Le Florimonde on my list but haven't gone any further.

Thanks! I have already profited from one of your posts and will be booking your airport shuttle - it sounds wonderful.

We were in the 7th for 3 weeks iin Sept/Oct.

Best restaurants:
-le Violon d'Ingres - dined there twice
-Les Fables de la Fontaine
-Les Coqottes
-Au Bon Accueil

OK restaurants
-Clos des Gourmets

Places we would not return to
-Leo le Lion
-Vin et Maree - Fish was good, accompaniments were "mistakes" (Rice burned to a crisp on top - and just ordinary Uncle Ben's)

Checked out many others, but menues did not seem interesting or original enough.

Hi,

No, I am not in Paris now. Returned mid Dec. after a short 12 day trip.

I will be returning for a month mid April.

I check e-gullet regularly for what is going on foodwise in Paris. It is all there.

We went to Les Saveurs de Flora in Dec. Enjoyed it. I always do all 4 Constant restaurants, Le Florimond is always dependable. Give Cafe Max a try. 153 Grenelle, La Cuisine..so many good spots.

My April/May list has many new..to me...ones on my list.

Oh, before I forget...I contacted my shuttle service the other day to pass on names of several friends who would be calling them for reservations and asking them to take good care of them. They returned with an e-mail that said they would like to give "all" my friends a discount..if they would mention that they were a friend of mine they would make sure to give them one. It is probably only 5 euros..but 5 euros is 5 euros! Give it a try, if you would like.

Enjoy...

Have any of you Paris-holics been to Itineraires on Rue de Pontoise?

Thanks guys, visiting e-gullet now and bookmarking your restaurant recommendations.

Violon d'Ingres definitely added to the list.

Itinéraires was featured today in the Bites column of the Sunday NY Times travel section.

Leely (who is not even planning a trip to Paris at present, most unfortunately)

I have not seen any mixed reviews of Itineraries on e-gullet...perhaps missed it.

So many new and old stand bys. I always go to l'Obelisque in the Hotel Crillon..for lunch Sun or Mon. Those are the days when the long time customers are there. They call them the "nice" people. Have had some fun times there and been treated withe exceptional care..even freebie coupe de champagne, Taittainger, of course..regular charge 23 euros!

Looking forward to an interesting list lined up for April/May. I will take my laptop and will post some of my "experiences"...

Enjoy...
