Spending Thanksgiving in Edinburgh
I am getting the feeling it will be cold and damp? Boots? Raincoats?
Any suggestions on what I should not miss? I'm heading there with a 13 and 17-year-old. Looking forward to our visit!
Suggestions, please? Thanks for any help/suggestions offered.

Very likely . . . but possibly not too bad.
>>Boots? Raincoats?<<
Warm is the most important thing IMO. At that time of year I generally take a puffer coat warm socks, gloves, sweaters to layer, good soled shoes -- possibly booties but ONLY if they are as comfortable as walking shoes. Edinburgh has a lot of cobbles, hills, uneven pavements etc. You need really good, supportive shoes. I personally hate hoods but most people use one on the coat. I prefer a collapsible umbrella and wool hat/cap. A lot of people use down vests and rain coats - I just prefer my puffer. Don't take scares - there are wool and cashmere scarves in every shop -- great souvenirs.
Don't let the kids take 'fashionable' shoes -- they need proper soled boots/shoes.
I'll be 400 miles south around the same time and that's what I'm taking.
