Spend more time in Stockholm and skip Oslo?
Hi, I'm curious in hearing the opinions from this group. I'll have about three days in Copenhagen. Two days in Stockholm + another half day if I take an evening flight to Oslo.
Then Oslo to Bergen via Nutshell.
Then I spend the day in Bergen and then take an evening flight to London.
Should I take a morning flight to Oslo and spend a couple of hours looking in Oslo, or is it ok to skip the city entirely?
Thanks.

Oslo is certainly worth a few hours. I would spend the time at the Viking Ship Museum, and the nearby Kon Tiki and Fram museums. They are fascinating exhibits on Norways sea-faring history.
Unless you are planning a day's excursion from Copenhagen, I would suggest two days there and three in Stockholm.

The only thing that really impressed me about Oslo was Frogner Park. I did not see the museums mentioned by lavendrye so I can't comment on that. I liked Stockholm, Copenhagen and Bergen very much but just for me personally, I don't foresee a return to Oslo.

Thanks for your thoughts, l.
I've bought my ticket from CPH to Stockholm already, I'm afraid.
And in any case, I'll be going to "Siegfried" at the new opera house my last night in CPH. It's a very long opera. Since I've standing-room I think that I might skip an act. But basically, my last evening in CPH is more or less devoted to highfalutin culture, so that's why I decided that it'd be better to add a day to CPH. Also my flight on the first day (from London) doesn't get in until noon.
How do the Oslo attractions compare to the attractions in Stockholm on the Djurgarden (Skansen, etc.)? And also to some of the attractions in Bergen?
Superficially they sound similar, which is why I was thinking of skipping.
To add to this, if I do skip Oslo, would it be better to fly directly to Bergen and spend the night there and do the Nutshell as a round-trip from Bergen? The Nutshell bit seems to take as long. I'm thinking that Oslo, even in the evening, is still interesting.

If you see Skansen, I think that you could skip the Norwegian Folk Museum, as I did (it's right beside the Viking Ship Museum). There really isn't anything that can compare with the Vasa museum in Stockholm, which is a must see, but I did find the various maritime exhibits on Bygdøy quite worth seeing. Frogner Park is interesting, but I can't say that I was enthralled. However, you can visit it in the evening as the summer nights are long.

So, l, it sounds like you think that I should spend a few extra hours in Stockholm instead?
I'm expecting to pass through Oslo on May 27 -- I'll look into potential evening opening hours.
Any must-see art museums in Oslo? I guess there's the National Gallery and the Munch museum, but neither strikes me as a must-see. A friend directed me to a special CoBrA exhibit, which I guess I should look more into.
Thanks again!

ttt another time. Still leaning towards skipping Oslo but plan to spend a night there.
I plan to buy my ticket soon.
Also would appreciate comments re Oslo -> Bergen and Bergen <-> Bergen via Nutshell. Big differences here?

I agree on the skipping Oslo idea. Stockholm is much more interesting & charming.
I did "Norway in a Nutshell" from Bergen. Took all day but was totally worth it. Bergen is delightful - be sure to take the cable car to the top of the mountain.
