SpanAir help

I am trying to make SpanAir reservations on-line but it looks like I have to pick up the tickets in three days in Spain. This is a problem since I don't go until end of June !!! Is this correct? I really want to book now before I leave. Can anyone give me advice how to purchase SpanAir tickets from here? Thanks a lot!

I ran into something similar in booking an Iberia ticket on-line. No problem so long as I requested a "cyber" (i.e., paperless) ticket. I imagine you have the same option with Spanair.

However, the site does say they will mail tickets to the US....

"Ticket by Mail in USA

We offer our customers a new ticket by mail service free of charge !( Tickets to be mailed for travel within 14 days of travel will be charge a $ 15 fedex fee ), available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. With just a phone call you can make your reservation and have the ticket at your home or office. Remember that with just a call to 1-888-545-575, Spanair is at you service in the fastest and most effective way possible. Ticket by mail service delivery is an outsourcing with Federal Express (FEDEX).See link page."

I'd call that number and ask for assistance if you continue to have problems.

Marian,

It appears that the deeply discounted Spanair fares are indeed only available if you have a spanish mailing adress or can pick up the ticket within 72 hrs of booking (no e-ticket option available).

I would try the US number Lesli mentions and if it's a lot more that way, try checking with your hotel concierge in Barcelona if you could use it as a drop adress.

Keep us posted on how things turn out!

Lesli, actually I noticed the phone number is incomplete and checked the website (also incomplete). If anyone out there has there full number please post it. In the meantime I have e-mailed them and will post the number if I get it.

On the website, under About Spanair, Worldwide Offices:

USA

Address: Discover the World USA
1155 Conneticut Ave., N.W. suite 810
Washington DC

Phone Number:
Reservations:1 888 545 57 57 (TOLL FREE NUMBER FOR USA)
Fax: 1 480 443 0856

(Looks like they left off that final 7 in the paragraph I posted above.)

To anyone interested in purchasing SpanAir tickets from the States: the prices are higher than on the internet website. To buy the SpanAir tickets for quoted price, you need a Spanish address for them to send the tickests to. Luckily a friend of mine in Madrid helped me out. Good luck. Iberia is easier to deal with because they have e-ticketing.

May I add...

Try calling United Airlines since they are now Spanair's American Star Alliance partner. Although it may be difficult to get those cheap rates you saw posted. Sometime the cheapo rates are for people living in certain European countries. I guess they are designed for the "local" traveler. I recently came across the same issue with an Austrian Airlines flight from between London and Vienna. On the Austrian website it was posted at about $150 r/t but the site would not let me book. When I called Austrian they told me it was only for the British or I had to buy in London. For us Americans the fare on the same flight was $425! That was more expensive than my transatlantic flight! Cheers to the alliance!

For those booking with SpanAir beware: they say that the tickets will arrive at your Spain address in 3 days (which is considered express mail!) but I later got an e-mail saying that it would arrive in 2 weeks. I guess express means something different for every country! Just wanted to warn you to buy well in advance if you go with them.
