Spain, what do you think

We are going to Valencia and Madrid in a few weeks, but I am already
planning another trip in April.
I'll l be in Barcelona for 5-6 days , not sure what to do next.
Would taking a train from Barcelona to Zaragoza , staying24 hours, then taking a train to
Pamplona , satying24 hours, then taking a train to San Sebastian and staying two days
be a good idea?
I would fly back to Barcelona and then home.
Another option would be to go to Lisbon after Barcelona and stay for 4 days ( with some day trips)
fly home from Lisbon.
It will be my seventh trip to Barcelona, I have not visited the other places I am considering.

Not too fond of spending time in villages and small towns. No driving.

Any suggestion would be appreciated

How do you feel about rain? How important is food tourism to you? If you love great food, it won't matter whether the sun is shining in San Sebastian. But the place gets so much rain, I wouldn't head there if you will be disappointed with that.

I just came back from Lisbon and loved it, and I didn't take any day trips. I could have spent another 5 days there without feeling any need to take day trips. Also, the place is so cheap, for food, wine and taxis, that in itself was a pleasure.

Something else that would appeal to me if I was in Barcelona for 5 or 6 days would be to spend a night in Vic and maybe 2 nights in Girona, both of which are easy train rides from Barcelona. Both are cities, but small ones, and maybe too small for you. But you would get quite a multi-dimensional impression of Catalonian culture, if that interests you. These places also have very rewarding architectural sights and museums, and their own personalities.

Thanks pizz,
been to Girona and Sitges...., love Barcelona and always find enough to do in the city.

I know it rains a lot in SS...just food would not make me travel there.

If you luck out with two sunny days, the beach is very pretty, but food-alone is the reason San Sebastian is a destination for most people. There are small regional museums and sights, but it hard to imagine anybody finding them engaging for two days in the pouring rain.

Lisbon is much more engaging apart from food -- but it can rain there too in April and if you opt for it, you MUST have very good anti-skid shoes. The sidewalks, even when dry, are slippery, and it is a very hilly place.

(PS: I wasn't suggesting you take away time from Barcelona. I was suggesting you stay in Catalonia for your entire trip, rather than leave it at the end. If you don't know Vic and frequently go to Catalonia, you might want to visit sometime.)

Thanks again, someone else also suggested a day trip to Vic on another thread.

My travel time is flexible...would March be a better time to visit Lisbon?
Early May?
