Spain -- weather

I am in the beginning stages of planning a two week trip to Spain. What is the weather like in March? Rain? Cold? We will be all over the country, hitting all of the big cities. Also, any other Spain tips are welcomed.
Thank you!

I was in Spain last year in March and the weather was very nice. Temperatures during the day in the 70's (some areas were about 80) and at night about 50's-60's. I found the weather ideal and best of all while we were there it was not a peak time for tourists. Spain is a beautiful country that has much to offer. Enjoy!

It is quite a good month to visit Spain because there are few tourists. Andalucia and Levante have really good temperatures though it can change easily. Even in Northern Spain it is one of the driest months, but if you stay for some days you will have probably rain, but not much cold.

Places? Sevilla,Ronda, Granada, Cordoba,Salamanca, Segovia, Toledo, Cuenca, Barcelona, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela,...

We visited SPain for three weeks last March. The temps were as the previous post said, very nice! We loved Barcelona (all the Gaudi buildings!)and were very impressed by Madrid, the Prado is great. We spent 4 days in Barcelona and a week in Madrid. We found plenty to do in each city.
We stayed outside of beautiful Toledo at an Inn located on an old Olive farm. Our balcony room overlooked this historic, romantic city and river below! I can send you the hotel's name if you like. We also enjoyed Montserrat. It is spectacular. You would want to be there for the daily performance of the boy's choir at noon every day. We were in Seville the year before, I found it noisy and crowded. We like the moorish palace there and the church, all within walking distance of the downtown. Driving in Sevilla was not very pleasant. I'd get in, park the car and walk the rest. Renting a car has been the easiest way to get around Spain. We took the night train from Barcelona to Madrid, however. To really see the spectacular countryside you should rent a car-but, do it from the states prior to leaving, it is much less expensive.

Jennifer,
Based on two recent trips ( one in March, one in early April): the south of Spain will be very pleasant indeed, the northern area ( Barcelona area) will
be cool to cold ( I get cold easily) and windy. We had some rain in Barcelona and snow about an hour north of the city, that was in late March. I found a leather jacket and/or a lined raincoat very helpful. Madrid will most likely be chilly , too.

My wife and I simply love Spain. We went to Barcelona (and Paris) on our honeymoon, and could not wait to come back. I remember sitting in the airport at Barcelona and wistfully predicting our return. Two years later we spent three weeks there, starting in Madrid, which is perhaps the most underrated city we ever visited. It is beautiful, sophisticated, artistic, and pulsing with activity. Do take a daytrip to Toledo, a picture-postcard walled city straight from the middle ages. Don't buy a tour, take the subway to the Puerto de Toledo where there is a bus station; the bus costs one-forth of the excursion price.

We flew to Seville for less than $75 and fell in love with it. We drove from there to Cordoba, which is simply stunning. Next we drove to Torremolinos and basked in the Mediterranean sun, and visited Gibraltar. Next we drove to Granada, which is incomparable. We flew back to Madrid and home.

You will find friendly, sophisticated people who love life and family, and want you to have a wonderful time in the country that they have every right to be proud of.

I was in Spain last February, and the weather wasn't too bad - it was warmer in Sevilla (60 degrees or so) You can take a high speed train from Madrid to Sevilla - it's only about 2 1/2 hrs and it's nice not to have a car in Sevilla. It was a cute town, but I was told it is not that safe at night. Be warned - plan to travel on Sunday's-there is literally nothing open, most tourist places close around noon, and there is nothing else to do for the rest of the day! We learned that the hard way.
Have fun!
