Spain Itinerary Advice Please

Hi all, Thank you in advance for your help. Please give me some feedback on this itinerary..13 nights total for our first trip to Spain.
Fly from NYC to Barcelona
Barcelona 2nts. Then pick up car to drive to:
Valencia 2 nts..
Alicante 1 nt.
Granada 2 nts.
Marbella 2nts.
Sevilla 2nts.
Next a train to Madrid 2nts.
Flight to NYC from Madrid.
This is a self guided tour -total cost for 2 of us $5400 .
Would it be cheaper to book on our own?
Any additions or deletions? Comments please.
Thanks again.

Only 2 nights in Barcelona? and in Sevilla? and in Madrid? WAY too fast paced for MY tastes!

Spain is easy to visit on your own.

I recommend that you get some good guidebooks (or spend some time with a few in your local library), identify the things you most want to see in each location, note their opening/closing times, and mark them on a calendar. Then pencil in your transportation, add some time on either side (for getting to/from your lodging, checking in/out, packing/unpacking, getting oriented, etc.).

Also, time of year makes a HUGE difference in Spain. When would you be going?

Sorry, I can't tell you what I would do with 13 days! I CAN tell you what I DID do with 22 days on the ground: Segovia (1 night), Avila (1 night), Salamanca (2 nights) Madrid (4 nights), Toledo (2 nights), Cordoba (2 nights), Granada (3 nights), Capileira (1 night), Ronda (1 night), and Sevilla (4 nights -- not enough). (I used public transportation only for that trip.) I'm currently planning a second trip to Spain, which will include about 5 days in Barcelona (not counting day trips), and I already know that won't be as much as I would like. BUT again -- it depends on YOUR interests and YOUR preferred pace of travel.

Have you done this type of trip before (ie, one where you check out of hotels every two days)? Unless you have done it and dont mind I wouldnt do it. You lose a lot of time checking in/out, getting settled, traveling time, etc.
As was said above, without knowing what you like is tough to suggest an itinerary. But yes, you could probably replicate the same tour on your own for less (by the way, does the $5400 include airfare?). A "generic" trip to Spain for 13 days that I would recommend for somebody that has never been there and doesn't have strong likes and dislikes would be something like:

5 days Madrid (daytrips to Segovia and Toledo, maybe El Escorial)

4 days Sevilla (daytrip to Cordoba)-AVE train from Madrid

4 days Barcelona (fly from Sevilla to BCN)

Cruiseluv, You're right. I don't like 1 and 2 night stops. I told my friend on our last trip no less than 4 nights anywhere, but this trip includes air and was a lot of bang for the buck. We prefer country to city. We like driving and being able to stop, nature with some easy hikes, history, good food. We could add or subtract days to this itinerary.
