Spain Itinerary Advice
After spending numerous days (months?) in planning our itinerary for next September, we have come up with this latest version:
Sat.Aug.29 - arrive Madrid 9:30 am - early afternoon at Thyssen and early evening at Sofia (we do not ordinarily suffer from jet-lag when we arrive in Europe)
Sun.Aug.30 - Prado and walk through city
Mon.Aug.31 - day trip Segovia
Tues.Sept.1 - morning at Royal Palace, pick up car and drive to Toledo in afternoon (synagogues, El Greco house, Santo Tome)
Wed.Sept.2 - morning at Cathedral and Santa Cruz; afternoon drive to Cordoba
Thurs.Sept.3 - morning Mezquita; afternoon Jewish area and Alcazar; late afternoon drive to Sevilla (staying at Silken al Andalus Palace with car)
Fri.Sept.4 - day in Sevilla
Sat.Sept.5 - morning in Sevilla; afternoon drive to Marbella with a short visit in Ronda
Sun.Sept.6 - relax in Marbella
Mon. Sept.7 - leave early morning for day trip to Granada - 10:30am -1:30pm at Cathedral and Royal Chapel; 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Alhambra
Tues.Sept.8 -relax in Marbella and drop off 7-day car rental
Wed.Sept.9 -relax in Marbella and leave for Malaga airport by bus at 6:30 pm for 9:15pm flight to Barcelona
Thurs.Sept.10 - sight-see (including Miro)
Fri.Sept.11 (National Holiday) -sight-see wherever we can or day at beach
Sat.Sept.12 - sight-see (including Picasso)
Sun. Sept.13 - sight-see or day trip by bus to Figueres (Dali museum)
Mon. Sept.14 - sight-see/beach
Tues.Sept. 15 - flight to Toronto at 7:15 am
The above is our up-to-date plan (after considering numerous stays in various paradores, which have unfortunately had to be discarded when considering what locations we really wanted to see and visit instead).
Please comment and make recommendations - basically we want to see and do all of the above, but if anyone feels that some part of our plan needs reasonable "tweaking", please feel free to pass on your views.
As always, many thanks for any assistance.

Looks like a nice trip but I am confused with the Marbella segment and the car. I would stay the nite in Ronda and then drive the next day to Nerja to avoid the long drive to Granada---or, just stay in Granada. And, why not drive to the airport to drop the car?

You could take a train to Figueres and stop for a few hours in Girona ( it is the same line , 28 minutes from Girona to Figueres)
Girona has a lovely "old town " and a beautiful Cathedral.
The "old town' is about 25 minutes walk from the station.
When we were in Barcelona we visited churches and parks on Monday.
Montjic (where Miro is) is a huge park with a great view of the city from the top. Miro closes at 2:30 Sundays .
here is the link for trains in Spain.

Hi, nevertooold -
In general, I think your itinerary sounds good. I like bobthenavigator's idea of staying overnight in Ronda. Also, I'm one of those who found the Alhambra magical at night, and am very glad that I visited it both during the day and the night. I don't think it is open on Monday nights, so if you did want to do that, you would probably have to switch the day that you spend there.
Hope that helps!
