Maribel: Sorry for the incorrect info.

When I was in Limpias last (Sep, 2001), the foundation for the new Parador was in place - that's more than a year and a half ago! I just assumed that it would be completed for the Summer, 2003 season. It's sure taking a long time to complete that building. It sets me to wonder if the work on the Parador in Santillana has been completed. On that same visit, the Parador de Gil Blas in Santillana del mar was closed and undergoing major reconstruction. The annex was open.

Hi NEDSIRELAND,
I actually thought too that the Parador de Limpias was open (had read that on the Madridman board) until I called the Central Reservations Office. It does seems like it's taking forever to get it finished.

Yes, the Parador Gil Blas work is finished (we were there too when it was closed for renovation and had to stay in the annex), and now there are 2 official Paradors in Santillana, the newly renovated Gil Blas and what used to be its annex, which is now called just the Parador de Santillana.

There's another Parador still "forever" in the construction phase in Galicia, the Parador de Luintra, just northeast of Ourense, in the heart of the pretty Ribeira Sacra region. I called about that one too, and Paradores doesn't know when it will be inaugurated.

Hi Maribel and Ned,
the Parador at Limpias is really taking forever to be built. The setting will be really beautiful, at an "indiano" house with a big park, but nobody knows when it will open.
I know people working there, and the latest joke is that the ghost in the bouse is not too happy (Yes, it will be a parador with its own ghost...)

Cova

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Antigua Bodega de Don Cosme Palacio in Laguardia? If so what type of room would you recommend?
Wendy-
On Maribel's suggestion, we are staying at the Hotel Castillo El Collado in Laguardia during our visit in July. It really looks wonderful. When are you going to be there?
Amy

Wendy-
Sounds like we are starting your trip as you end yours. We arrive in Honderrabia on July 20, go to Picos de Europa on July 24 and end up in Laguardia on July 28. We'll have to compare notes when we return

So we got reservations at the H. Santemar (Brisas was full) and also have a reservation at the Hotel Castillo El Collado, in the tower suite! It's over our budget but when I saw it online I thought my 6'6" fiancee will be very happy to have a king size bed at the last stay on our trip at any cost! We may have to change our minds but for now it's ours!

Wendy
