southern spain
My husband and I will be taking the bullet train from Madrid to Southern Spain the beginning of November. We will have about 7-8 days in the South, and want to visit Granada, Seville, Cordova and a White town or 2. We would love to know how long to stay in each and what it the best order. Thanks in advance,
Cynthia

With 7 days, I believe your itinerary is ambitious. Typical first-time visits are, IME, 2-3 nights for Granada (2 for just the Alhambra, another night if you want to see any of Granada's other gems), 4 nights for Sevilla, 2 for Cordoba, and 1 to 3 for the White Towns. Some people visit Cordoba as a day trip from Sevilla (in which case you would probably want to add time to Sevilla), but there's more than enough to keep one happily busy in Cordoba for 2 or even 3 nights. The gems are Granada, Sevilla, and Cordoba; the white towns are nice, but not in the same tier.

Book that AVE train ASAP for possible discounted fares - full fare always available on short notice - Renfe is where you can, in theory, book your own trains - www.seat61.com has lots on doing that yourselves on that and other sites with similar fares - general train info BETS-European Rail Experts and www.ricksteves.com.
