I am going to Southern Italy starting in Rome picking up car,Plane on driving to Viesta then heading south to Matera then on down to Cosenza .Would like to drive around the boot part.My question is has anyone been to these area before ?I would like to go without room reservation so i want have to be in a hurry to get someplace.Are rooms hard to find?I really like to stay in B&B 'S.
any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Here's info on one good B&B outside of Lecce. It is reviewed on slowtrav.
I have not stayed there myself, because I extended my stay at a Masseria around Ostuni instead but I stopped by there and met Andrea who runs it with his mother. He was very nice, the rates are reasonable, and it sits in the middle of a very beautiful garden, outside of town.
