If we need to catch a 11:30am flight from Rome Ciampino Airport, what is the best (quick and cheap) way to travel from Sorrento to Rome and to airport?

I am afraid that we may have to leave Sorrento a day early (by bus or train through Naples), and stay overnight in Rome and catch the morning flight.

Any advices and suggestions? thanks.

Never mind - I found the answer on Internet.

If I want to go directly from Rome to Sorrento (Amalfi Coast), avoid the train which stops at Naples.

Take the direct bus from Rome Tiburtina Station. The Coach Bus leaves the station at 7am and arrives in Soprrento 4 hours later at 11am. Simple.

OP - no way i'd depend on any type of transporation leaving Sorrento save a private car to get to Ciampino for 11:30 flight with presumably much earlier check-in time.

Oh --- same thing on return from Sorrento to Rome.

Coach bus leaves Sorrento Pizza Tasso at 6 am, arriving at Rome Tiburtina Station at 9:45am.

I'll just have to find a way to go from the Tiburtina Station to Ciampino airport in 1 hr arriving at airport at 10:45am. Cabs??

If it is too rushed - we'll stay one night in Rome.

You might make it to Ciampino by 10:45, if there are no traffic delays between Sorrento and Rome, and from Tiburtina to the airport, but you will be in Italy.

I wouldn't count on making the plane.

My rule is to stay overnight in the city from which I will depart.

maybe that bus goes near Ciampino airport, on the south side of rome before tiburtina and could get a cab from some other closer place.
