Sorrento to Naples--Cutting it too close on the schedule?

This is where I could use some hands on experience! We need to take the 10:36 am train from Naples to Chiusi. We will be getting to Naples from Sorrento, and we have these options:

Hydrofoil, leaving 8:20 am
Train, leaving 8:26 am, arrive Naples 9:17 am, Direct
Train, leaving 9:07 am, arrive Naples 10:14 am

The last option is preferable to me because it minimizes the amount of time in the Naples train station, but I am concerned that we'll be cutting it way too close! The other options give us about an hour overlap. Any ideas other than sitting down with a magazine, or is that what we ought to do?

It seems that the 9:07 train from Sorrento might be cutting it close. I have personally experienced the train leaving about 20 mins. late from Sorrento to Naples. Also when you get to Naples you have to go up 2 sets of long stairs and then have to find your train which in itself may take 10-15 mins. The 8:26 train from Sorrento although would cause you to have to wait a little longer in the Naples train station in my opinion is a better option to allow for any unforseeable circumstances. Just watch out for the pickpockets while you are waiting for the train! They even have signs in the Naples train station that say "Beware of pickpockets" in Italian and English.

Hi,

I agree with Scully. Find a place to sit and have breakfast while writing your notes for your trip report.

I agree with the other posters. Take a magazine or book and get there early. Trains in Italy are often late on either end ( arriving and departing) and it would be a shame to cut it too close for comfort.

Buon viaggio!
