Sorrento and Capri restaurant recommendations, please
The last time we were in Sorrento was in July, 2006. We visited our favorite restaurant - Roberto Francischiello at the Hotel Bella Vista in Massa Lubrense. It was the night of the World Cup and we were the only people there! It was great - we felt like family as we all gathered around the TV near the bar to watch the game. We will go back there again (we go there every time, sometimes several times, during our stay) when we visit Sorrento soon, but I would like a few other options for lunch or dinner.
I did a search here and the most recent posts about restaurants for these places are a year old and older. Our favorite pizzeria in Massa Lubrense was all closed up in 2006, so things change in a year or more. Does anyone have some great places you have dined at recently and can recommend for lunch and dinner in Sorrento or nearby and Capri? We like great food, pleasant atmosphere and a view, if possible.
Thanks.

in Sorrento
da franco, across from the lemon grove, corso italia 265, sorrento September 16th lunch - amazing pizza! it comes out on a huge square baking sheet. it is very long depending on how many people you are with! we had alla contidina which was cheese peppers and sausage. you order according to the amount of people you have but can get different pizzas. 12 euro for 2 people
in Capri
Where we ate
-da gemma, via madre serfina 6, Capri
September 23rd lunch-
pizza with proscuitto
pizza alla diavola (pepperoni type sausage/salami)
-verginiello, via la palazzo 25, Capri - best restaurant ever! so good we ate there 2 nights in a row, our only 2 nights in Capri.
September 22nd dinner-
ravioli caprese - the most delicious ravioli ever, they are little round balls.
scciatalleli puttanesca - thick handmade pasta of the region, great light puttanesca
mussels au gratin
caprese salad - tomatoes, buffalo mozzerella, olive oil and basil - decadent and light, I couldn't get enough!
torta caprease - famouns almond chocolate cake, outstanding!
58 euro with a liter of house red wine, water, bread, cover charge
September 23rd dinner-
more ravioli caprese
limguine frutta del mare
steak pizzaiola
more caprese salad
53 euro with liter of house red wine, water, bread, cover charge
-buonocore, via vittorio emanuele 35, capri - everytime we walked by this place going to our hotel it smelled so amazing you could smell if before you even saw the place! they had really good looking pizzas and pasta pies, that I sadly never got to try! they do however make fresh waffle cones right up front on the street and thatis what the smell is! the waffle cones were very good as was the gelato. they had a fantasia capri flavor that was very yummy! 3.25 euros for 2 flavors in a waffle cone with chocolate sauce on top.
-sfizi di pane, via le botteghe 15, capri - great little bakery with fresh breads and pizza.

A restaurant called Charlot opened in Massa Lubrense about 2-3 years ago. It's on the road from Termini before you arrive down in Marina del Cantone.
Here's the website:
http://www.ristorantecharlot.it/index.htm
They have pizza too, but I don't think I've had it there.
My husband is home in ML now, I'll ask him where the best pizza there is these days and report back.
Also second Verginiello on Capri, though it's been a few years since I was there, it's where we always go.

Hi there
I can give you suggestions for Sorrento only.
here my favorite restaurants in Sorrento and surroundings
Zintonio Mare
Located in Marina Grande, the old fishing harbor of Sorrento. The Restaurant offers a wide range of meal with fresh fish.
Ristorante Mariagrazia
Maria Grazia is a culinary delight on the Amalfi Coast, famous for having invented Spaghetti with Zucchini (courgettes). The restaurant is located on the Nerano Beach, about 12 km away from Sorrento.
Ristorante Da Filippo
The restaurant is located just 2 km away from the centre of Sorrento,it offers specialty of the mediterranean gastronomy: the best of what is fished in the Gulf of Naples, genuine meat, fruit and vegetables of the surrounding countryside.
Donna Sofia Restaurant
situated in quiet position, about 800 mt from Sorrento centre, in an area called “Santa Lucia”. Refined cuisine and specialties based on fish, meat, pasta and vegetables. The restaurant is dedicated to actress Sofia Loren.
Here some of the best specialties of Sorrento fish and pasta cuisine:
Octopus salad, chowder and sautéed seafood, fish ravioli in lobster sauce, ravioli caprese style, gnocchi, eggplant parmiggiana, spaghetti with zucchini, mixed fried fish and more of all spaghetti with seafood.
Ciao e buon appetito!
