Some Good News: The MOSE system in Venice worked!

Tidal conditions in Venice on Saturday were forecast to cause the first acqua alta of the season. The MOSE gates were raised, and there was no flooding. Yay! This is great news for Venice!

well it worked because they had loads (more than 1000) of engineers making it work as the intergrated control system doesn't work yet, but the big floating doors floated you are right.

In 2014, when they raised it for the first time, there were only 300 engineers, including many guests from all over the world. May I know the sources of your statements?

Well either la Nuova, La Stampa or the Economist.

Did the whole thing close in 2014? I thought it was still only part closed. But I'm not an expert on 2014 Lido activity.

I couldn't find any La Stampa or La Nuova Venezia free article about 1,000 engineers, maybe you could post a direct link?

I took pics standing as close as possible to the northern Lido inlets and they raised all the 21 gates. There were so many engineers, students and engineering nerds that the Lido seemed an Apple Store the night before a new toy hits the shelves.

Who else remembers a tv show in the 1980s about Venice sinking? This is great news, Jean. May it continue to succeed.
