Solo Trip in Italy
Hi all!
Ok, so I'm planning my first solo trip to Italy for May 2007 (been there twice before on honeymoon and 1st anniversary) and need some help narrowing down accomodoations (I've been making a list of places to stay since May 2006 and now I'm overwhelmed!).
I'll be flying in and out of Rome (wanted open jawed ticket but the flight was given to me by a friend so can't complain!). I'll be staying 5 days in Florence (from there I'll take side trips to see Siena and Lucca [again] and anything else that pops up). Then I'll spend my last 4 days in Rome and see everything there.
Ok, so I need help narrowing down B&B's and I'm hoping that some of you have stayed in these places and can tell me if it's worth the money (no more that 100 euros) and a safe place to stay (I'll be traveling alone):
FLORENCE:
Capri Moon www.caprimoon.com
Filipepe B&B www.filipeperooms.com
Il Porcellino Tourist House www.hotelporcellino.com
Martin Dago
www.martindago.com
Residensa Johanna and Johlea
www.johanna.it
ROME:
Daphne Inn
www.daphne-rome.com
Sam's Rooms
www.samrooms.com
Thank you all for any advice you can send my way!

Hi Ahissa,
I did a solo trip last year and for Rome can highly recommend:
Hotel Giardino Rome 2*, on Via XXIV de Maggio. Great central location for walking everywhere, super helpful and friendly owner, Katy and staff, typical breakfast, double paned windows for quiet sleep and A/C. I had a single for 90E /night in Sept (high season). They answer e mails very promptly.
Buon Viaggio!

Hi,
I stayed at Il Porcellino in Florence last march. It was a nice accomodation and the owner was very friendly and helpful. I was also travelling solo and I got a large room (2 beds) overlooking the market, a bit noisey in the morning though, nice bathroom too. The location is really good just a block to Piazza Signora and the Uffizi.

Hi, I'm thinking about a solo trip to Florence in February, so thanks for posting the urls. My budget is about the same. I've been reading good things about Casci, www.hotelcasci.com , which is in the same price range. I'm looking forward to seeing the responses you get!

Thank you all for the advice - I'm thinking about the Daphne Inn in Rome as my place and in Florence, still not sure.
Cls2paris, I'm happy the url's are helping you - anything you learn, please send it my way, too - I'll also keep you in mind
Happy travels!

Daphne Inn was great when we stayed there. Keep in mind, Daphne Trevi has no elevator while Daphne Veneto does have an elevator. Some might find the required climb to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Daphne Trevi tricky--spiral marble steps.

Ellenem,
Thanks for the heads-up
I know about the Trevi location and although I'm not too worried about the lack of an elevator, I just hope it's not too exhausting after a day of walking around
Cls2paris, send me your email address and I can forward to you lots and lots of urls that I've collected since May - hotels in both Florence and Rome and a couple in Siena, in case you want to go there too.
Thank you all!!
