For late fall travel in most of Europe bring some really GOOD rain gear and layer - when the sun comes out - if it does! themps soar - when it goes back down - they drop - take layers on and off as dictated.

kja - haha yes, I should have clarified that ahead. I don't mind if it feels rushed, but the mood has to be there. Now Prague suddenly feels like a city I would connect most with- just intuition.
PalenQ- Thank you for your really wondrous recommendations. For this trip, I have to because of some personal matters. I feel like I should at least firm up the accomodations and transfers in advance and let how I spend the days within the city be free. I always get more comfort with that.
I think this shall most possibly be my itinerary save some minor tweaks and getting the nitty gritty in finding areas where it's Muslim friendly interms of food So excited about this. Another update, my friend wants to host me in Berlin so I guess I am going to Berlin, afterall

mooris - I too like to have accommodations firmed up as it saves time and money so I understand. Yet if you do meet that gal or guy or it.... some hotels like chains let you cancel up to the day of arrival - if staying in hostels you can always cancel and book new ones online... just in case.
Like when I was 20 on my first trip to Europe that great Dutch gal I met in Ireland and changed my plans and traveled with!
But yes having accommodations arranged saves time and money IME - just get off the train or plane and head to the accommodation.

may not be much better but better - still prepare for lots of rain - daylight obviously will be longer and that makes it better but do not expect balmy sunny weather north of the Alps (it could be but may be gray and rainy for weeks IME).

I have booked everything>
One book you should book along with you is Let's Go Europe (amazon.com) - the Bible for backpacking young folk - a wealth of info - even old duffers like me find the info in that book so useful, especially on accommodations - critquing zillions of cheap hotels, youth hotels, youth hostels, etc.
Worth its weight in Belgian chocolate or French camembaert!

Why Lucerne and not the Alpine Wonderland of the Jungfrau Region - the Switzerland of glacier-girdled peaks rising thousands of feet above lush meadows - the dreamy picture etched in many folks' minds but which will not be fulfilled in lovely Lucerne?
If you've never seen dreamy Alpine Switzerland head for the hills - high hills and also accommodations at this time of year may be much cheaper in the Interlaken area than in pricier Lucerne.

I haven't read everyone else's comments, but since you mention liking cats, have you heard of Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium in London? We're going there in early November -- it's a combination coffee house/tearoom and cat rescue. It sounded too quirky for us to pass up.

Way too rushed for my tastes -- but then, you've already said that you are "a 'feel collector' not much of a museum hopper or diner kind, ... I just wanna roam around and pen things down.'"
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
