Soccer In Paris

Hello! We are traveling to Paris in September and my husband is interested in attending a soccer game while there. Can anyone tell me about going to a game featuring Paris St. Germaine? Is it fun? Is the atmosphere similar to the World Cup with fans singing and chanting (we know it's a far cry from the WC)? How hard is it to get tickets? How much are tickets etc. The team website is obviously in French so I can decipher some of it but not all. Thanks for the input!

jbjayhawk,

Hopefully someone will get back to you with specific advice about PSG, but in the meantime...

I don't know exactly when you'll be in Paris but the French national team are playing the Italian national team at the Stade De France (in St. Denis, a Parisian suburb) on 6 September. This is a qualifying match for the 2008 European Championship & would be a great match to attend. The Stade De France is acknowledged as one of Europe's greatest stadiums & I'd imagine it would be a better atmosphere than a PSG game.

Here's a link to the English language section of the Stade De France website -if you're interested you can buy the match tickets on line;

First off, the season starts on August 5, the link to the fixture list is:
http://www.psg.fr/fr/news/show.php?id=9708 click on the green logo in the centre of the page to open a pdf file.
To buy tickets, go here: http://www.psg.fr/fr/ticketing/billetterie_2.html and click on "pointes de vente" to buy tickets online.

PSG plays Marseille on September 9th (or more probably the 10th) but the stadium will be completly full. Do not hope for a seat. Furthermore the atmosphere will be "hot" as these 2 teams have some history

On September 23rd, PSG will play Nancy. There should be no problem to get a seat for this one

Thank you! We will be in Paris Sept. 13-22nd. It looked like there is a home game the 16th vs. Monaco. Is this correct? Are these games worth going to? Is it a fun atmosphere?

Thanks!

It should be a very good experience. If you can get the tickets (maybe try the PSG website?), I think you would have a great time.

jbjayhawk - in Europe the HOME team is listed first, so PSG are AWAY to Monaco on the 16th.
