On a trip from Hong Kong to Melbourne a man in the aisle across from me snored loudly even before the plane had taken off!! Another passenger asked the flight attendants to wake him but they refused. In the end I took a sleeping pill and also gave my neighbour one and we did get some sleep. He was still snoring when we woke.
My husband was also a few rows behind me on the other side of the plane and when I woke and looked around he was sleeping soundly with his shirt untucked and his stomach exposed (not a pretty sight). I decided to pretend I didn't know him!!

I always wake the person up. I have a right to peace and quite. Some people snore so loud it even overpowers Bose earphones!!

Yeah, I snore, and it's definitely not ladylike! I always book a window seat, and I take my own fluffy down pillow so I can not only lean my head on it, but also squish it up under my chin to keep my mouth from dropping open. That works pretty well. I pre-warn the passenger sitting next to me, as well. However, I'm usually so paranoid that I jerk awake with that first 'snort'. Immediately look around to see who noticed, then tuck my pillow back under my chin. On an AT hike a few years ago we were crammed into a two story shelter on a very wet & rainy night with at least thirty other hikers. I got my trail name that night- Mama Bear.
