Because I ordered PREM tickets, I regularly receive SNCF advertisements. They are and they are not spam, since you probably used the SNCF site; they are not mailing something blindly as is the case with true spams. On the other hand, they are spam to the degree that you do not appreciate their mailings.

Yes I get them all the time and find them informative. There should be an opt out somewhere on the email. Its french law. If you dont want to get them any more look down at the bottom of the email in the small text. It should explain how to opt out.

Now that you mention it, after I bought some PREM tkts online, I did receive French language info on SNCF specials, for a few months afterward. They must have stopped when I did not purchase any more tickets. I, however, agree w/Michael, in that I did not consider it spam. To me, it falls in the same category as the announcement of specials that I receive from hotels where I have stayed. Sometimes, it is useful and when it is not, I delete it. I guess spam is in the eye of the beholder.

I get LOTS of email from the SNCF, some of which I signed up for as a Maximiles participant and some of which I think just comes to me because I buy so many tickets. It doesn't bother me much, and sometimes I actually get offers that save me money, so I'm not complaining! I wouldn't characterize it as SPAM.It's all in French of course.
By the way, ira, it's "très amusant," not "très amusement."
