Small charming hotel outside of Frankfurt

We are looking for a small charming hotel for our last night in Germany. We have a late morning flight back to the US from Frankfurt and are looking for a nice place to stay before we leave rather than the typical airport chain hotel. Any suggestions for a mid price accommodation within an hour from the airport?

Try Bad Homburg or Friedrichsdorf, little towns about 10-15 miles from Frankfurt.

I would look at staying in Idstein. Beautiful small town, filled with half-timbered buildings. It is one of the many towns on the Half-timbered route that runs through Germany. It isn't very far from Frankfurt and is located in the Taunus Mountains. Very scenic.

Even closer, the Frankfurt neighborhood of Hoechst. Very lovely old part of the city, it was never bombed, has one of the oldest churches in Germany, nice little cobblestoned streets, lined with half timbered house, has a small schloss and a great market place on Tues. & Fri.

Hotel Oranien in Wiesbaden - Wiesbaden is about 40 mins from the airport by train and has a compact and pretty centre, which is about 5 minutes by foot from this hotel. This hotel is quite nice.

It's also easy to get to Mainz and the Rheingau from Wiesbaden by train.
