Interesting. I was VERY politely asked to leave the Buza Bar when I had finished my beverage. I'm sure I could have stayed....

OMG -- I enjoyed every moment of my leisurely visit at the Buza Bar! But there was a LONG line when I finished my drink... I honestly can't blame them for their polite inquiry....

Thanks rialtogrl and Andrew for the detailed directions. Really helps. After reading the OP review I planned on dropping Rovinj from my trip and take a bus from Zagreb to Plitvice.

Paolo didn't seem to love Rovinj. I did. I didn't care for Zagreb, but others really love it. Kind of a personal preference thing.

I would say that it probably doesn't make sense to visit Istria just to explore Rovinj and not much else. It's a tiny town, explored in just a few hours. It's a lovely, charming place to come back to in the evening after say exploring nearby towns, but I often see people making a quick trek there specifically to see Rovinj and not much else. That doesn't make sense to me. If you want to spend two or three days in Istria exploring the area, Rovinj makes a great base.

Andrew, what you said makes sense. We were planning on going for 1 night and its not worth to drive all day. Will skip this time and go sometime if we ever go back. Thanks for you help.

Paolo,
How many nights did you stay in each destination?

I really enjoyed your trip report. I am in the very very preliminary planning stages of a trip to Croatia and Slovenia for spring 2019. I don't want to start my own thread until I have purchased guidebooks and can develop a more detailed itinerary. It would be helpful to me to know how many nights you spent in each place and if you would plan your trip differently in hindsight.

Thank you!
